Tennessee Promise is a scholarship program that gives students two years of free tuition at any of the state’s 13 community colleges, 27 colleges of applied technology or other eligible institution offering an associate degree program.
For many students, using a Tennessee Promise scholarship is the first step in their college careers, gaining admission to four-year institutions after completing their two years of tuition-free attendance. As part of the scholarship, you also receive guidance from a mentor who assists you in your college admissions process.
If you want to pursue a teaching career, starting with a Tennessee Promise scholarship is a great first step. After finishing your two years in the program, you could then enroll in an institution that offers an educator preparation program.
Tennessee Promise is a last-dollar scholarship, meaning it will cover tuition and fees not covered by the Pell grant, the HOPE scholarship or state student-assistance funds.
